Hello Mr. Smith,
My name is Mike Davidson. I'm 16. (I know right about here you're thinking "why should I care")I am admittedly not as fanatic as most of your fans. I haven't seen any of the DVD's of your movies (don't have a player) and I have only seen Chasing Amy and Clerks once apiece. (I saw Dogma once as well, and Mallrats twice and a half, but thats neither here nor there.) I love your style, and think your movies are among the funniest and most entertaining movies I have seen ever.
The subject of this post however, is to let you know something that's going to make you feel extremely reputable and perhaps a little old. I attend a rather liberal private school, and one feature of that is an English class that allows me to, within certain restrictions, design a final paper. I have put in a request to write a screenplay as my final paper. No I don't want you to look at it. No I don't want you to direct it. No I don't want you to act in it. No I don't want a job.(Obviously I wouldn't mind any of these things, but again, that's neither here nor there) But what I asked my paper to be was a movie in the style of, well, of you. I have to complete an analysis of all of your "New Jersey Trilogy" films from a literary perspective and then, well, I'll write a script, real format and all that, my own characters ('cept I may borrow Jay and Silent Bob, because in the style of movie I would be imitating, namely, yours, Jay and Silent Bob are a necessary part of any character and plot scheme. I just thought you might like to know this. I apologize for making you feel older and more reputable than you actually are.
Thank You For Your Time,
Mike Davidson
