Mike Leigh has covered great range within Thin Man Films while using many actors repeatedly.Every film is disparate and yet his voice is quite recognizable. (Compare "Life is Sweet" to "Naked." Unbelievably different but clearly "Thin Man" productions.) Perhaps one reason is that the actors play very different roles rather than repeat characters.
Of course, he has had success with what he calls "backing in a real spirit of carte blanche." With the sell-out of October Films, who knows what will happen now, although I've read that a French (TV?) company has struck up an agreement with Thin Man.
In this country? Maybe make like a dotcom and get venture capital?
Just sad to think that ViewAskew might get scalpeled. Seems like there would be much range and possibility within the company without losing the creative fingerprint.
