Okay, kids... out of the 'Board Cop' persona some have labeled me into for a bit... and into Public Service Man-mode...

As a few boarders expressed they were going... as it's the first screening of all four anyone's heard of... here's some tips about the SU stuff.

- Gifford Auditorium is no movie theater... it's just a rather large academic auditorium... it holds a lot of people but the sound's a little shitty so sit accordingly. Gifford is in the HBC building, moreover, a building in the middle of campus, so you'll have to consult a map and truck on up a little hill on foot and get there. HBC is a non-descript academic building... and it has no concessions... just a coupla vending machines. By all means, get Burger King or something.

- On a demand riddled evening, the place can get packed. When Lynch's associates who made Puddlecruiser played it here for free, there was no room to breathe... it's pretty well hyped around campus... and last years Amy screenings were jammed in the smaller but slightly more posh Watson Theater. Beyond that, there'll be prize raffles at this one, which makes it a guaranteed decent draw. Again, get there a little early.

I'm assuming the raffles will be Askew-related but don't quote me on it.

- Syracuse's streets really suck and make little sense, especially around the campus with asshole 18 year olds from Connecticut who drive their SUVs like bats outta hell. Free parking is tough to find (hence my girlfriend's most recent ticket) and the paid parking is rather suspect.

- There are two nights of this. All four films both nights... Clerks at 7, Dogma at 8:45, Chasing Amy at 11 and Mallrats at 1 am. A lot of the partiers will have shuffled out for the drinkin' after Dogma... so Amy and Rats could end up somewhat looser more hardcore fan oriented endeavors.Take that as you will.

- Expect technical difficulties... relish them, even. They've made for some of the best moments of college-screening wackiness I've ever seen.

If and when I get more data (WERW is in the same offices as UU Cinema) I'll chime in with it.
