: : Guys, violence towards women is simply not cool.

: I find this statement equally offensive. It clearly implies violence towards men is somehow more tolerable. I know you were talking about a particular incident concerning violence towards women but this does not excuse your implication that acts of violence committed against women are in any way more unacceptable. The ability of a victim to defend herself OR himself is irrelevant. When society starts condeming violence in general, maybe we'll get somewhere.

Of course violence is unacceptable wherever it arrives. The point is that women are subjected to an entire realm of violence -- rape -- which most men never become familiar with b/c they are not forced to.

Violence which is specifically sexual in nature is definitely not cool, and women receive the bulk of it. So in terms of receiving violence, men and women are not on an equal basis...so why should the addressing of the problem treat men & women as though they are the same in this regard when they are clearly not?

: In future, if you're going to jump on the moral bandwagon, you should first think about what you're saying.

In the future, try to open your mind a little & see from someone else's perspective.
