In a previous post I spoke of their amazing publicity machine, but I never said they were "buying" the nominations. I fully recognize that Miramax puts out some well-deserving movies.
Here is said message to acquit myself:

DAMN SHAME THAT MIRAMAX DROPPED DOGMA
With their publicity machine at full force, they could have manuevered about 15 Oscar nominations for DOGMA. Look what they did for that piece of shit THE CIDER HOUSE RULES. Shit, Kevin would be a lock for BEST DIRECTOR with the Weinsteins on his side, in addition to the obvious Best Original Screenplay award. Damon would have gotten his due as best Supporting actor as well. Hell, I'd reckon Miramax could have gotten Salma an award for best supporting actress.
Okay, that last one was going too far,
Kyle
PS-Magnolia got screwed too.

So, you must not have meant me. Okay, I'm glad that's cleared up.
