: Written by the Brit Nick Hornby. Be hard pressed to find any Clerks comparisons in the novel.

: Aside: Bit of contention about the film is that many (myself included) consider the book to be distinctly British in tone and feel, yet Cusack and company decided to Americanize it by placing it in Chicago. Perhaps some Clerks-ness came over in the translation? Dunno, haven't seen it.

: : But I haven't seen the move yet so maybe I'm wrong?

: : D.

: : : Just got back from watching high fidelity. It kicks ass, but there are several very clerk's like scenes

John Cusack is a good old fashioned chicago boy, and he probably just placed it in chicago because the windy city is a hell of a lot more exciting than london or whatever. obviously, i haven't read the book, so don't pay attention to my half-assed opinions.
