Hardly a ripoff.

: wow, thats a bit of a rip off then, but i guess it could have been worse, he could have ripped off the telletubbie names or even the spice girls. I just read some people think your kev, and ive been thinking b4, that maybe kev comes in as certain aliases. Being a screenwriter of sorts i like to try out different characters in chat rooms to see what kind of reactions they get, and i have to say women are such pushovers when it comes to wooing them. If only i wasnt a fat bastard i might get dates.

*C'mon, ripoff? As MK above stated, it's merely an homage. Hell, many times a writer may have just liked the name someone else used and simply went with that. My name is Mike and I don't accuse people who use that name in screenplays of ripping my parents off just as my parents weren't ripping anyone else off. I think it's cool when screenwriters throw things like that in. In most of my writing, sometimes the first names and most of the time the last names are an homage to something. It may be the school I was accepted to, a friends last name, or the last name of the author of a great book. But it's not a ripoff to use a name you like in your writing. Unless of course, every character you use is the exact name from the complete cast of Mallrats. Then you may run into some trouble. But a first name here and a last name there is safe. In fact, it's cool to try and figure where they came from.

*Mike
