Greetings Mr. Kevin Smith,
Let me just start off by saying I hope that I am doing this right I cant figure out this web thing. I fear that I may be breaking some rule. But what ever its too late now because I've already done it.
I am 21 years old fresh out of film school I took a 52 week hands on program. While in school I didnt know what my ture passion in teh industry was. So I decided to buy my self some more time. I hoped on a plane and jetted to Sweden to take a media communications course. After a couple of classes I realized the only thing I was doing out there was hiding from the "real world". So I ditched after one course travelled Europe a bit.
After three months int was homeward bound for me to Kelowna. Which is a small town outside of Vancouver. You may have heard of it since you spent some time in Van. Wich I might say i was shocked to lear that you had a brief encournter at VFS. My plan was to come home stick around for a couple of weeks then head off to Van to start my gloriouls new life as a set PA sweeping butts off a secluded parking lot. (I hope that you heard the undertone of sarcasm in that last sentence.) But no as things change daily in my life I fould my self working at the Video Stoe I grewu in. I've been working there since I was 16 years old. Its an amazing job. The people tahd just the thought of having a whole video library at my figer tips. Its a massive wealth of knowledge. Anyway writing has always been my passion. And Directing excites me as well as frightens me. Being the creative eye for the whole production is a lot of responisbility.
So anyways in the few weeks since I've been back I've had the pleasure of meeting my creative equal. he worked in Video Stoer for four years until recently it closed. He is having a hard time adjusting to working at a shell station. ITs weird I've never met anyone that I connect with so perfectly. Things get werider and weirder between us everday. Just last night we discoverd that his dad and my mom work at the same old folks home. I've pretty much known his dad my whole life. But never met him. WERID. So I steppeed out on a limb and asked him if he would like to write a script with me and he jumped ath the chance. So me him and another friend of mine have set out to write our first screen play. I unlike you who am not brave enough to it on my own. I just feel that i cant create differnt characters and do justice to them. Since I am the one with the film backgrould i'm the hone that has to educate them on the do's and donets that i've learned.
To mentally prepare mysef I set out surfing the net to read about the people who've inspired me. Your mocies stuck out the most to me. I typed in Kevin Smith and came apont your pages and read about you. I never had a clue about anything you do with your productions. I cant believe how inexpensive you shot clearks for. It was brilliant as are all your movies. It amazes me how much effort you put into your fans. The constant updates on Dogma. Excellent I've worked on a feature film and know how valuable your off time is. It amazed me the time you took out. Aaron also thinks that you are an amazing human being as well as Lori. After I told them all the stuff I read about you we had to have a Keving Smith movie night to put is in the right frame of mind four our andventure in script writing.tarted at three and finished at one taking breaksto eat get junk food and visit a friend at KFC. We have our general idea down. I've always heard write what you know. And the three of us know Kelowna. We all grew up here. So we are on a quest to capture our town in the perfect comic entertaining way. I read about chasing amy about how alot of its your hang ups and ansities...You ar a brave man to put that all out for the world to see.
I guess I just wanted to write this to tank you for the inspiration. I have much respect for you. I thinking that you are a creative genious. On a level I can relate with cuase you seem down to earth and dont forget where you came from. Well if you've made it to the end of my psycho babble. I cant really think of anything that I wanna ask you except you're from Jersey why Vancouver Film School? I've taken enough of your time so dont feel compelled to answer that question. I dont mind if its a forever mystery to me.
