To the View Askew crew

After sitting down and watching from the first minute of Clerks all the way to the last minute of Dogma one can't help but notice (possibly)Kevin's fascination with Canada. Now I've asked a few friends who have been into Kevin Smith a lot longer than I am what the big deal with canada is and the only anwer i get is "he loves canada" but there must be more.
Now, being a canadian this question keeps me up at night for is this just a playful love or is it just an easy way to pick up a canadian audience, or was there actually a "Canadian Amy"?
Also what drew Kevin to Jason Lee, did it happen to be his playfull performance in his skateboarding video Blind video days, because that's what made me a Mr.Lee fan.
