: Am I the only one who finds it disgusting the way so many of these fair weather fans come on a piss on Kevin for saying that he plans to move past the Jay & Silent Bob era of his work?

: Come on! The man has given us 4 movies with these characters and plans to do one more. He has a reputation of being a one-trick pony in many circles, which I think is unfair, but I don't think he'll move past without discarding the most obvious references to his earlier work. I, for one, look forward to seeing what other tricks he has up his sleeve. I love Jay & Silent Bob, and will continue to buy any comics or other stories he chooses to tell their continuing stories in, but I think locking him in creatively is cheesy... and I think demanding - and often times even suggesting that he's making a mistake - that he not follow his own muse is counter-productive and just plain rotten basically.

: If I were Kevin, which I most definitely am not, I'd tell each and every person that came on and whined about him moving on that they can fuck themselves. I'd also be seriously considering just abandoning the final Askewniverse film out of spite... or simply starting the film by putting Jay & Silent Bob in a fucking meat grinder, so they could be definitively ended as characters.

...Jay and Silent Bob are for many of us why we became Kevin Smith fans in the first place. We dont want to see these characters go, much like we don't want to see family members die (ok, maybe too extreme of an example). But yes, I do agree that the time is right for Kevin to move on and break new ground. I for one can't wait to see what he's got up his sleve.
