Ok, I have to admit that the first time I saw Mallrats I was disappointed. The end seemed to "cheese" as compared to Clerks and the orig. "Lost Footage" But you know, I took a leap of faith and bought the flick and it has become one of my favorites. The tie-in to Clerks with Julie Dwyer, the quirky humor, Kevin & Joey and the dressing rooms. . . and Broadie.

Anyway, my response to the "significance" question?

What do you think? Does it have to be "significant"? I thought the casting for God was perfect. Alanis was unexpected, and her approach was very innocent and child-like which is how I always pictued "god" to be.
I was raised Catholic and remained practicing until about 2 years ago. I was delighted with the film. If anything it praised true faith and frowned on hypocrisy and the inflexibility of organized religion. Any true "spiritual person" should appreciate this film. Kevin obviously has researched, (and lived), Catholicism. . .even my mother (a devout Catholic) appreciate the accurate details and obvious knowledge of the religion.

Thanks for another fantastic film!

I hope you and Jay appear at the San Diego festival this year!
