..h the fact that they'd want in on the project for less money than they'd take from any other project factored heavily into the equation.

Beyond that, I think a more appropriate question, & one I've never seen officially answered, would have to do with the specifically NON ANGELIC names of the two ex-Heaven residents. What with the "research" into various aspects of angelic & apochraphal lore Kevin did, I assume he's aware of how all of the Seraphim have names that end in "el". (Much like Kryptonians.)

Making the conscious choice to include a Norse diety name as the Angel of Vengance made me raise an eyebrow.. And metatrn refers specifically to him by name- "Angel... name o' LOKI," so I would think that this was not an instance of him having different mnames throughout the ages..Then the Gaimen in me wondered if that was done because of the fact that it is Loki, when he escapes imprisonment, who brings about Ragnarok, the Twilight of the Gods.., a cool meta-resonance. Then I think, nahh.. Maybe Kev's just a THOR fan, & liked the name.

Also, the Bartleby thing. I posted something a while ago how the Melville story was about a guy who witnesses so much misery that he just gives up, and becomes a complete contrarian, rejecting EVERY instance of "servitude" concievable, to the point of ridiculousness... I *have* to think that was an intentional literary homage, with the non-commoness of the name "Bartleby."

But yeah, I think Ben & Matt's friendship with Kevin, and their GWH experience together contributes more to the mix than their being cast according to skin-color or ethnicity. And speaking of which, it was pretty racially/culturally mixed up(meaning "blended", not confused), as films go.. Latina, black, English, and white leads.

And I think it was wonderful that the muse of inspiration was played by the single most amazingly, stupifyingly beautiful women in films today.

See- Me & Lucifer are playing nice?

: : In holding with traditional Catholic dogma, as Kevin was wont to do with this movie, Caucasian Angels have been consistently depicted in paintings and drawings throughout the ages, so this is what many people believe Angels should look like, thus creating the dogma that all Angels are white, resulting in Barry and Larry's WASP-ishness.

: : Confusing enough?

: No...but Kevin didn't seem to be aiming for strict tradition here...
