I'll add my two Lincoln heads by saying I've been surfing the internet for about six years now, before most people ever heard of a modem. The thing about message boards is it typically is the only place where a lot of people feel they can get heard. Thus, they start to feel like they own the place, like it's their little world and anyone who doesn't measure up is target for a beating.
Mind you, some people do say some pretty stupid or obvious things on any message board. But why not just ignore them? Try to understand that not everyone has researched the subject matter like others may have. Some don't have the time. Some are just newbies, slightly curious about a subject, and are using the internet for what it is there for, to gather information and communicate.
It always makes me augh when I see the elitist posts by the "regs" (not all of them, by any stretch) on any given board wo slam people who don't measure up to their standards. It's funny. I think it's a huge insecurity thing where some people, not a lot but a few, derive their only sense of being included or being deemed interesting by what they say on a message board. Therefore they get very uppity and self-important, excersing a power they do not have in their everyday "meatspace" lives. Cyberspace is power to some. And I do understand that. It's very empowering.

Just an onservation on the topic. I'm sure I'll be called a hypocrite and this message be labeled a slam, which it definitely is not intended to be.

"You're a bear, with big fucking claws. Sharp claws. And she's a bunny."

: I don't understand why everyone here bitches at each other all the time on this board. Granted, there are stupid people in the world and on the board, (and I'm sure now I'll be considered one of them) but I thought this board was meant to be used to talk to/about Kevin Smith and his work. I'm fairly new to the board and I've seen a lot of cattiness on the board that I really didn't expect from Smith fans, who are usually pretty intelligent. I understand you're trying to weed people out or whatever, but we're all here for one basic purpose and I'd like to think that that's more important than insulting someone.

: Not at all sorry for ranting,
