...he was cast out of heaven was to be the denouncer, the reader of people's sins while Loki pulled his Angel of Death genocidal shtick on people. Never once in the movie does Bartleby look at someone and point out anything good about them. My theory is that Bartleby is able to telepathically read people's sins, but not their virtues; it just wasn't part of his job qualifications. Plus, Bart's been excommunicated from God's presence, so it stands to reason he's been rendered unable to notice the touch of that presence in human beings as well. Thus, he recognizes Azrael and can see the Moobyite's misdeeds, but he doesn't perceive anything out of the ordinary about Bethany, Rufus or Serendipity. As for Jay & Bob, he probably only sees them as your average sinners and does not recognize their prophetic powers.
Wow, that actually made sense. Amazing.

: Bartleby is a "watcher". He's seen tons of stuff and knows alot about the people hes watched. If he and Loki were kicked out of heaven a lonnnng time ago, how could he know of the misdeeds of the mooby people? And if he knew of their misdeeds, how come he didnt know who Bethany or Jay and Silent Bob were before Rufus made them aware? i guess that kind of bugged me in the past but didnt really think about it until now. Any opinions are welcome.
