I held off on posting anything, until now, for a few reasons. One is the fact that I tend to be long winded and second, I wasn't sure what I had to say. I've made a few responses to various things that I had an opinion to but for the most part, I've sat back and listened to what everyone had to say.
Mostly, I think we all agree that we love Mr. Smith. I do too. I just recently became accuanted with his work when I decided that any movie that got as many religious institute reps as ticked a 'Dogma' had to be seen. So I called my wife from work, foind someone to watch the kids and we went to the movies. We don't get too many chances to go to the movies because of responsibilities and kids, so it is a major undertaking for us to go. usually we agree on what we're going to see before we plan but she just let me shoose this time. After we saw it we just sat there. Then we started talking about the movie and we both loved it. Two days later we were there again.
After 'Dogma' I checked the Internet Movie Database and went looking for anything else Kevin had done. I ran out and rented the movies and watched them in order of release. I couldn't believe it, I liked them all. I poked around for any info I could get my hands on and eventually stumled across the View Askiew web site.
For the next few days I went home and would talk to my wife for hours about new info I'd learned. She sat and smiled and then one day said that it was funny how happy something so small made me. She liked that.
Anyway, I guess this is a thank you for Kevin Smith. I don't think that I could be classified a s a fanboy but rather as someone who shares his love of comics for the strytelling in them. And recognizes that trait in someone else. Kevin Smith is one of those phenomena that comes around that lets some of us feel that we aren't weirdos floating through the cosmos without another soul that thinks like us.
