I understand that my fan-status skews my perspective, but this seems like one of those situations where Yeat's apocolyptic view when he wrote
"The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity."
A funny, smart, cool show gets panned and buried, while a real-world-ripoff with admitted "freak value" but all the lasting appeal of a COLOR ME BADD video gets to be the media darling.
I know, I know.. This is relatively unimportant in anybody's grand scheme of anything, but I'm a firm believer in the fractal nature of trends; the microcosm reflects the macrocosm, or "as above, so below"...If *stunt* shows like "Millionaire," "Survivor" and such are today's fare, and indicitive of the general zeitgesit, then a RUNNING MAN future is in store for us all. It makes me sad.
As an act of support for the show, I bought 6 Snickers bars, as they were advertisers. But I don't eat sugars or carbohydrates, thanks to the charismatic rantings of the mad Dr. Atkins, so I gave them to the folks I work with. That's 6 purchases the SNICKERS folks would **never** have seen without the Clerks cartoon.
: Eye of the tiger...baby....
: The fact that Clerks TCS is getting like no publicity and it is up against Survivor...which it seems like every newspaper and media outlet in the country is doing a story on this condesending crap.... Doomed from the start....But what the fuck...at least we will get to see 6 episodes...hopefully.
