I wonder if I am alone in this. I'm obviously a fan of the Man, and have enjoyed his every effort, in both film & now TV.. Even bought me most of his comic fare, although I'm pretty much out of the "life" on that front.
(Ironic, because it is, more often than not the " 'I don't have much of a life' life" but I digress.)

Never let it be said that I'm not a fan. However, I don't get the mad, cabbage-patch-kids-meets-tickle-me-elmo-times-pokemon-card-set rush to get the much ballyhooed "Bankey Hat."

I saw CHASING AMY in the theater-breaking my vow to never return to the crappy uncomfortable, tinny-sound, kinda smelly, Yale Art House, "York Square Cinema" in the process, rented it on video twice, and caught it here & there on HBO & such, but, I swear, if you put a gun to my belly, and asked me to describe the hat, I'd have to ask you kindly to just get it over with and pull the trigger.

(NOTE TO BUSTER- there is no need to respond at this point, clip only the last sentence, and then add "gladly." It's too easy, and I just took all the fun out of it by this aside.) **

Was the hat featured prominantly? Was it the coolest frickkin' hat ever to live, or rest on human pate? What gives? Why the hub-bub, bub?

I saw this episode of LOVE, AMERICAN STYLE once, about a girl who always wore gloves. The whole gist of it was that the bachelor who was a'courting her, when he finally saw her hands, considered it like a giant conquest, or something. Is that what's going on here? The fact that this mythic cap has long been unavailable has increased the interest, by way of rarity?

I dunno. I still don't get it. Don't get me wrong- Order your hats- Order 'em by the truckload if your boat is granted bouyancy by such action; I just feel like I'm missing out onto some reason for all the interest about this kinda prosaic, seemingly throw-away item.

Anybody able to enlighten me? Does the cap heal the sick, cure the blind, reduce fat and raise grade-point-averages? Will it make you a better lover, student, human being, and/or chef? Why the hunger for the purple hat?
