FLETCH WON is the book Kev is first looking to adapt for the big screen, right? Well that's a story early in Fletch's career, so a younger person is necessary to play the part, because Chase has AGED BADLY my friend, and he could never be made to look as young as he did in FLETCH let alone years younger than that. However, Kev has put forth the idea, mind you this is only and idea, of having Chevy Chase bookend the flick and narrate it as though he's telling the story of his younger days. The narration would of course be keeping in the style of the first two Fletch films. So if that were the case, would that possibly quell your worries?

Fuck, I can't remember how that water buffalo line goes from the first FLETCH.

: No fucking way! You can't do it!
: Chevy Chase IS Fletch.
: Noone can replace him! Not even Jason Lee, not Ben Affleck... no fucking one! Of course I WILL see the film when it's released, but I can't imagine that I won't be thinking "Where the hell is Chevy Chase?" throughout it.
: You hear the name "Fletch" and Chevy's face pops into you mind!
: I know most people here will now say "What the fuck are you talking about?"
: to me, but that's because all of you people here on the board are such big fans of Kevin's that you just can't imagine a bad idea coming from him.
: I am a fan too, but I try to be as objective as possible.

: That's my opinion! OK, let the bashing of me begin!
