Damn. If it isn't some punks posting racist slurs at 3 a.m., allegedly in hopes of rekindling my suspicion that the South is alive and well, then it's a bunch of Message Board sentinals claiming their superiority over some kids that just want to know if Brodie and Banky are the same cat.
I'm kind of new to this whole WWWboard business. I don't like the idea that it's 12 a.m. and I have nothing better to do than to post shit on the board when I should be having sex....but I'm coping. I see what gets posted on this thing and it bewilders. What the fuck is this forum for.
What little insight I have into this it's one of three things:
1) a place to inflate egos by deconstructing other users in a consequence free environment
2) a place to tell Kevin that you saw him buying pizza while you and 17 other fans were staked out in the plastic fauna deciding whether or not to ambush Silent Bob and force him to say "Snootchie Bootchies".
3) A place for the casual fan to try his hand at posing philisophical questions that have plagued mankind...like is Banky gay (something which I find myself waking up in a cold sweat about).
I think more often than not most of us are just trying to get some contact with Smith, who a lot of us revere as both the director of some very cool flicks and also his alter ego Silent Bob. That's fine, but I've been to comic cons and I see the stereo-type superfans that need to know how Bob has a cigarette in his hand during the beginning of the scene, but disappears at the end. Asshole, two words-seven syllables, continuity error.
Man, I didn't mean for that little diatribe to come off as a rant, but I just see this board as a good way for fans to tell Smith what his work means to the people that watch it. I just feel that there are too many fucking idiots out there that ruin the board. Also I feel that there are too many of you (us?) that are way into Kevin Smith and the Askewniverse...a place that deserves a tip of the hat and a nod....but not a 1000 fuckin word exposition on how you found the Dead Sea scroll that negates the entire plot to Dogma. Of course that's just my opinion....I could be wrong.
