Can you let on if the script calls for monsters of the kid's own fashionings, with rules specific to each one, or if the monsters in question are more archetypal (werewolf, vampire, etc.) ? If we're talking "BASEMENT DWELLING MONSTERS," I'm hoping they are completely new creations, with their own specific, kid-made rules...Stuff like never putting just *one* foot down off the bed, or shutting your eyes tightly before flipping the light switch, and only opening them when the light is actually on...
Either way, Werewolves or Stair-Lurkers, his sounds like a really, really phenomenal idea. not for nothing, & I hope you take this the right way, but the one weird kernel of cool from the laugable movie WARLOCK, was the odd collection of strange rules and rituals that could be used, cook-book-style, to fight the Warlock dude.
A movie that has that element, but in a cooler context, could be cooler than the GOONIES.
