I think Mr. Coppola's career and cinematic decisions were then fueled in large part by mass availability of cocaine. Hopefully, we'll never repeat the '70s again. And if I remember correctly, Coppola made major studio films before founding Zoetrope: "Finnegan's Rainbow" and "The Godfather," which launched him into a stratosphere of fame and pharmaceuticals. For some reason, I don't think Mr. Smith is that mercurial or eager for acceptance.
