To Kevin (or anyone else who has experienced the DVD releases of the Jersey trilogy),
There are fans and there are superfans, I consider myself somewhere in between...modest enough not to become starstruck and interrupt your lunch if I spot you in a restaurant, but fanatical enough to watch all three films and their audio commentary.
Once I thought about doing a summer program for film at the Tisch school in NYU. I never went. What I did instead was rent a whole bunch of DVD's and listen to the director's commentary and found it more insightful than the undergraduate pre-req courses I took on film. Kevin, thanks for doing it, because it might be tedious to watch your stuff over and over and over again, but at least you take the time out for the fans.
I just got finished with the Chasing Amy DVD and I have to say that it is a fine piece of commentary. I've seen the movie probably 10 times and found some of the commentary to be as witty as the verbose lines that you make Ben and Joey memorize. Also, Affleck seems like a good friend...shit, if I had Armageddon in one hand and Gwenyth Paltrow in the other I might not spend my off time doing an audio commentary. I'm just sorry that Jason and Joey weren't there to offer insight (which in someway left room for Ben to console/rag on you about your relationship).
I guess the best part about knowing a movie and then watching the audio commentary is the personalities that you get to understand....not the people you see on Entertainment Tonight. For the most part all three commentaries are love fests for self-congratulatory pats on the back and mini-reunions for the actors, nice to see you kids are playing well.
The discs are very cool, thanks from all the fans, including myself.
