I have to agree with what I've heard here, that Jason Lee would work better than Ben Affleck as Fletch. I think Ben Affleck is a wonderful actor, but I really can't see him in this role. I don't think he looks the part, and Ben's roles to date haven't necessarily showcased his ability to be like the laid-back, almost-never serious wise ass that Chevy Chase portrayed so well. Of course, Ben is a versatile actor, and maybe he can do it well and I've just not seen it. However, Jason Lee has been in roles similar to this one in the past, performs them well, and in a hugely likeable manner. I think he'd be the better choice.
I say all this without knowing whether or not the new Fletch is supposed carry on the look and mannerisms of Chevy, or if this is to be a new incarnation, taking the character in a new direction. But if the Fletch in the third film is to be Chevy Chase-esque, then I'd have to say that Lee is the best candidate of the two for the part.
