I just rented Fletch to bone up and possibly ponder what Jason "the people's Fletch" Lee would be like.
First, Fletch is a Chevy Chase vehicle, but I think that the books and screenplay definitely stand alone, with or without Chase's infamous delivery, because Jason Lee is that good.
Second, I've never seen Fletch Lives because the video store didn't have it so I'm going to have to watch TBS at 3 a.m. on a Tuesday. There are definitely things about the 1985 Fletch that are anachronistic but charming in their own "I remember when tight white shorts and shell top shoes were cool" way. I guess the point is they can remake Shaft, but I think that Jules from Pulp Fiction was a lot more Shaftier than Shaft 2000. Don't make Lee, or whoever plays Fletch, a Roger Moore type scapegoat.
Third, Happy birthday to Harley Quinn, I'm a couple of days late so please forgive me (the Madman jammies are in the mail)
peace,
JDS
