as to reply to my little note. I just want to point out that I disclaimed the whole thing when I said "I used to be this big fucking fanboy back in the day and it's been about 6 years since I collected any books or even bought a Wizard to keep in touch with it." as my first fucking sentence. Along the same lines all the books I mentioned were at the time I collected owned by neither D.C. or Marvel (or Acclaim as the case may be) hence I used the term independent refering to their autonomy from the two controlling and "big" labels that have defined the industry for so many years. And if you weren't aware (which I'm sure you are, but have conveniently forgotten), about 7 years ago the major labels were doing well, but Image and Valiant were giving them a run for their money. Shit you couldn't walk into a shop without noticing the even share of Image titles to Marvel or D.C. And I'm not ripping the industry...I said things got all fucked up since it is not the way I remembered it. I ripped D.C. and Marvel (remember this is from the point of view of a collector almost 10 years ago) because I've never seen either one of them show any guts with their character developement. I will never collect them because I didn't collect them then and I have neither the time or money to get into it now. My whole point was that these dead books should have a rather low value on them now.

your pal,
Geoff

P.S. I happen to own an extensive collection of Cerebus and Bone(and not the Image reprints either jacko). I've also always had a soft spot in my heart for a little known book simply titled Sin.

P.P.S. I would never give you credit enough to be THE Stephen King. Get over it you pompus cock jockey!

: Hmm... I don't post here very often, but this caught my attention. All right, you don't like the big 2. That's fine, but come on, lets face it, none of the books you mentioned were really independents. DeathBlow, well you got the blows part right. But, DeathBlow was an Image book. They published through a Malibu imprint. Hardy independent. Oh, by the way, Deathblow is now owned by D.C. comics. Jim Lee sold all his Wildstorm characters. Second, Rai, Bloodshot, etc. They were published as Valiant, and guess who owns those characters, Acclaim. Another big bad corporate company my friend. And as for the industry getting fucked up. Well, it's fucked up because of speculation sales such as yours back in the boom period. If you're going to rip on comics or the state of the industry, take the time to get your facts straight. And as far as the mainstreams taking control, believe me, they never lost it. They've owned the marketplace since before I can remember. And should you want to check out real independents, check out Bone, Cerebus, Strangers in Paradise, etc. Those are independents. Well, there's my two cents. Hope ya like it.

: : I used to be this big fucking fanboy back in the day and it's been about 6 years since I collected any books or even bought a Wizard to keep in touch with it. I was just curious as to what the hell happened. Shit got all fucked up in the comic book industry. All the indies stepped aside and the mainstreams took control again. I never have and never will be a collector of Marvel or D.C. because I feel their books just keep getting older and moldier. Anyway, I've digressed, my question is about any chance you might want to resurect one of the many awesome titles of the early ninties (Deathblow, Union, rai, Bloodshot) at some point in the future as a flick? Some of those books were just awesome (in concept at least) and would make good flicks. My main thought in the plus column was that the rights to books that are dead would be cheap as all hell. Anyway can't wait to hear news on your script as a go (I hope) or not...hope it kicks some ass.
