: name 6 people you know who saw the original SHAFT.

Okay, I wasn't old enough to see it in the theatres, but the original movies kicked ass. I mean, yes, those old "blacksploitation" films were the bellwether of terrible things to come in Hollywood, but Shaft was still one bad...Anyway, I saw them on video a million times. He was a strong black man in a position we'd never seen one in before (and inuendo of so many more positions I wasn't old enough to have seen before) and that was damn important. It was like the old Sergio Leone/Clint Eastwood stuff: is it the best acting? No, hell, for that matter, was Clerks that well-acted? No, the film is more than the sum of it's parts (god, I sound like one of my professors form college - shoot me now).
I'm not trying to start shit, just to point out, Shaft and Charlie's Angels were both hugely successful in their time and made a big differences in the biz, which Fletch never did...so it's a different story with this film.

Ps. King Isaac Hayes is one of Jason Lee's fellow Scientologists...what's up with that?
