Whilst watching crap movies early last Satuday morning, a film called 'Driving Me Crazy' (AKA Dutch apparently) comes on. Seeing the name John Hughes as the writer, I'm not sure whether to watch. Will it be horrible family movie or one of his finer efforts? It's looking bad, there's a moppet who reminds me of Culkin. But, it picks up, bit of comedy, lots of melodrama, and a happy ending (this was 8am Sat. morning).

It's a road movie (could this with Planes, Trains and Automobiles, be considered Hughes' Road Movie Period?) with the guy from Married with Children in it...not bad..better than most Hughes stuff. He really knows how to do melodrama. Shame he became obsessed with 'family movies'....Curly Sue anyone?

SO this morning I do a search about it..and i find this quote from John Hughes, about one Kevin Smith...

Quote...

I brought up Kevin Smith, writer/director of Clerks and Chasing Amy , who has more than once mentioned Hughes as an influence, even going so far as to base his upcoming Dogma around a quest by his recurring characters, Jay and Silent Bob, to find Shermer, Illinois (a mythical Chicago suburb where many of Hughes' teen films were set). "Someone mentioned that to me," Hughes says. "I saw Clerks , and it made me a little jealous. I wanted to do something similar. I like how he stays in New Jersey and retains that regional flavor. I admire what he's doing."

Unquote...

Sorry if this has been posted before...
