Kevin cannot read scripts for legal reasons.
Said reasons being that it is perfectly legal in this country to sue someone if something in their movie happened to remotely resemble something in the script they asked said director to read.
Such cases usually result in millions of dollars of damages being paid to the sender of the script.
Kev does not wish to shell out millions of dollars to someone because Brodie's ass fit into his pants the same way some other character's did, so he simply chooses not to read scripts he has not written.
