In posting this message, I realize that it will be public.
The things I will say, I'd prefer not to say in a public forum.
But if the cost of insuring that the receipient, Kevin Smith, will actual read your message, is to post it public... well, thats a price I will pay.
In other words, this message is for Kevin Smith. You other folks feel
free to enjoy it, but it wasnt written for your benefit.

Kevin,
I wanted to send you a personal thank you note. Not for your work.
I view your work as entertainment, and it effects my life in no significant way. I watch the Askewniverse shows because I know so many charecters in the films. I can relate VERY well.
However, as a bit of a fan, I found myself reading an interview with you.
(it may have been in your FAQs, I forget the source).
In that interview, you claim you talked to your sister and said you wanted to produce movies. Your sisters reply was: "Well then dont try to make movies.. MAKE THEM. Simply be a movie producer."
Side note: You may have claimed to want to be a movie writer, director, etc. I forget which for sure, but the point was. Your sister told you to simple BE what you wanted to be, and thats where it started.

Well, I did some thinking about this. I myself, have wanted to produce and write comedy for a long time. I often found myself sitting around and critiqueing other comedians work. Ya know, I'd laugh when they slipped out of charecter, etc. I find myself not laughing at jokes for the sake of the joke, but for the sake of the delivery. I was in the comedic mindset. With this swimming in the back of my mind, I thought about what your sister told you.. and how you took it to heart... and I decided: "fuck it.. im doing it".

I fully realize that I probably wont start off as a shooting star. But, if your work and dedication to your craft is proportional to your reward, then there is *ABSOLUTELY* no way I will fail!

Anyhows, since actually making the mental commitment to doing this, I have started writing original comedic material. A good portion of the first material will be put on a CD, that will initially be direct marketed over the internet through erobb.com
Erobb will be the webpage for my corporation, which I am in the process of establishing right now. I have already secured the services of a master recording engineer, who was taken with my ideas. (I inadvertantly presented him with something similar to a treatment, after contacting him
for the sole purpose of seeking advice on recording with my personal equipment).
So, as it stands now, Im writing material and trying to find voice talent for the recording. This does not bother me. What bothers me is that im starting to learn a little bit about a business that I am new to, and im feeling very daunted over the business aspect of the situation.
Ive discussed my worries with my father, who owns his own business (and always encouraged me to do what I enjoy), and he has assured me not to get hung up on the business aspect, and to mearly concentrate on the comedy.
I dont know if he's "playing me" with the full anticipation of me failing, or if he's being genuine. But I honestly dont care.

I dont know for sure If I'll "make it" or not. The only thing I do know for sure, is that I absolutely 100 percent wont make it, if I dont try!

Earlier today while writing material, it dawned on me that I am what I wanted to become. A comedy writer writes comedy. And im sitting her writing comedy with the intent of making a career from it.

Thanks Kevin.

PS, erobb.com site is mearly SECURED by me. The site is not up. im not sellign anything yet. Im MONTHS away from having a marketable material.
Clicking on that site should bring you to nothing but a server error.
I have not yet decided on a web host, or who will do the site!
So, dont be thinking this is a cleaverly disguised advertisement.
Its not. Its what it appears to be.. my heart on my sleeve.
If you wish to contact me, my email is erobb@kc.rr.com

PPS, you have an excellent internet site. Whoever is your webmaster, is earning his pay.

-Robb
