In Reply to: THE top TEN comic Movies !!!!!!!!!! posted by StevenHolmes on August 03, 2000 at 00:26:40:
: In responce to the excitemnt that the X-men movie has generated in the comics community, and the rest of the World in general, I was excited to read Kevins review of the movies. While his words and viewmimiced my own ( i.e. the budget being low, etc) , I was more excited to read Kevins comment that x-men was in his top ten of favorite comic movies. While I am hard pressed to come up with 10 good comic movies, its even harder to think of ten comic Movies at all!!!!!!! I could only name three off the top of my head that i consider great comic movies:
: 1. Superman - THIS MOVIE ROCKS!!!! I dont care what anyone says.....I was young and next to seeing Star Wars and maybe BattleStar Gallactica in the theater its one of the movies of my youth that really sticks out. I mean I shouldnt care at all about it, yet it sticks in my selective memory.
: 2. Batman - While there are some VERY huge changes in Batman continuity, this movie WAS VERY faithful, and also a LOT of fun!!! Yes it was moody and dark, but hell so is BATMAN! I still am not please with the casting, im sorry Keaton will never looks good in the suit, nor with the changes to Jokers origen, or to his character in general, but the movie worked, and the world ate it up, giving them a glimpse as to why we ( comic fans ) love comics as much as we do.
: 3. Akira - Nothing else needs to be said. This movies stands up in my top ten of all movies, of all time. The whole look of the movie changed the way i thought and still do think movies can look and feel, esp animated ones. I have no complaints about this, except that it couldnt contain the whole story that the comics had in it.
: whew........well kevin I cant wait to see your list, maybe it will give me some movies to watch this weekned......
: steve p.s has anyone else seen the JLA live action tv movie....while not horrible i found liking it a very HUGE quilty pleasure
