The hat in question is the one that Jay wears in Dogma (you can also see it in Scream 3 and the MTV shorts) in the Jay & Silent Bob comic-book mini-series (which was reprinted in the Chasing Dogma trade-paperback) we are shown how a high school girl sewed the slogan "Snootchie Bootchies" onto Jay's hat. But it was in no way a real life incident - just an extra bit of back story for the characters.
