Just a correction: Kevin wants to tie the flick in to the other 2, but if he can't, it'll be a separate entity entirely. Basically, if Chevy returns, it'll be "Fletch 3," so to speak. If not, it'll be TOTALLY separate. Kevin doesn't want to alienate the Chevy Fletch fans. Upon reading the news of the Miramax acquisition, I read all the books, and I think it would be fitting (even though Chase is an asshole) to make "Son of Fletch" after "Fletch Won." Chase would be age-appropriate for the role of a middle-aged Fletch, but I digress. Either way, "Won" will stand alone, but if Chevy narrates, it'll have *some* connection to the other two. At least enough connection for IMDB to consider it a sequel. We all know it's a prequel, but everything released after the original, be it "Episode I" or "Temple of Doom" is considered a sequel, according to IMDB.

: Smith is making FLETCH WON. He does not consider it Fletch 3 and part of the Chevy Chase franchise. Also, he won't be having Chevy play Fletch (although he's shared the idea of having Chevy play the older Fletch or something...just an idea). There actually has been no casting yet but everyone seems to be hoping that Jason Lee can get the part (Lee included). The book Fletch Won features Fletch's first adventure, so Chevy Chase would be too old for the part anyhow. That's pretty much all we know right now, but Mr. Smith has urged us not to worry about it too much yet becuase it's a long way off (he's gotta make VA5 first). I hope you still don't wanna boycott it.
