DVD problem

Occasionly on DVD's that I have there will be a short pause while changing scenes. Originally I just thought that something was wrong with my disc, but it started happening with others. On the back of one DVD i read that that problem can happen, but it only had that warning on DVDs. Does anyone know if this is normal??
