I drink lots of water. Lots and lots and lots. Usually does the trick. And the occasional bagel and/or cereal.
Never mix drinking and writing, though. One time I wrote an entire scene while drunk, thought it was the funniest thing at the time. Next day, woke up, took some aspirin and read what I had written. Characters were saying odd, random shit like "My thumb is fat like a mattress" (exact quote). I threw it all out. Save for the mattress line, which became the central theme of movie.
