: : I too have the painful memory of the third karate kid. Anyway, one point I'd like to make is that it's not just the actor or actresses fault if two completely different characters they play are similar. She may not be that great, but she may be an exceptional actress who plays characters that are WRITTEN to be almost identical and she makes it painfully obvious to the audience. Yet a third possibility is that the people who wrote Hamlet had her in mind as Ophelia and wrote her to be similar to Kat trying to attract younger audiences. What I just said may not have made any sense, but that is a problem that someone like me doesn't have the time to worry about.

: : P.S. Since I'm already off-topic, I'd like to say that all Shakespeare updates SUCK.

:
: Here's the think Kat and Ophelia are diametric oposites, practically, character wise. So one can only assume that in the adaption one or the other or both characters were diluted or changed...or that Julia Styles plays all characters like like she plays herself. I'm inclined to think it's a little of both becuase I agree that Shakespeare updates suck (unless they use the original dialogue like Romeo and Juliet w/Claire Danes and Leonardo Dicaprio), but I haven't been that impressed with Julia Styles work in her other films either. Not that I think she's a bad actress I just think she tends to put a little more of herself into her characters than would be ideal.

: ...too much? Oh wait, that's Julia Childs (and I'm sure she's already snockered)..."Fletch"
