Chasing Amy Dialogue

I recently watched Chasing Amy for the third time and i noticed that when they all go out for drinks at the lesbian club and start comparing scars that the dialogue is a direct spin, almost identical, to the dialogue in Jaws. Was that more of a mockery or was that a tribute or what? I was laughing my ass off when I noticed, it's so subtle. Anyway can anyone or even kevin let me in on that. Where did that idea come from.
