...I know all too well the bitter exclusion of being an "other" in a place of unified homogeneous faith.. And as such, (and due the inordinate amount of fistfights I went through pertaining to the subject) I am probably one of the more sensitised people you'll come to meet concerning percieved anti-semitism..
That said, I would RUN to the theater to see "Scary Jew: the Unholy Talmud." I'd buy the T-Shirt, AND the promotional coffee mug. I don't wear baseball caps, becuase with my hair, I tend to look like a professional gas-pumper with a cap, but I'd brave that indignity, and wear the lid proudly.
Also, I'm sure that my historical peeps felt the same way when Marlowe's THE JEW OF MALTA was bringing in big box office, or when MERCHANT OF VENICE's Shylock was the Elley Kedward of his day.
At least you get to feel the sweet kiss of rightous indignation and the secure knowledge of moral highground, made all the more rightous by dint of its complete under-dogs-manship.. Seriously. That's always a plus. Experiencing bigotry is usually an ennobling thing for the bigot-ee, as it places them in the situation of fighting "the good fight." Who ever gets to do that?
I will grant you that it is *wrong* to misrepresent a religion as a "race of villains," under any circumstance. THE PROTOCOLS OF THE ELDERS OF ZION was a fake "secret" book "discovered" in the 20s which exposed the "plots and machinations" of the jews, how they intended to rule the world, control the banks, and subvert society. That same false template still has resonances today.
But I *do* find it funny that it boils down to an argument-be it christian vs. jew, pagan vs. catholic, or whatever have you, that, at its core is really "my invisible friend is better/more real/holier than your invisible friend(s)." All silly if you ask me.
