: Well, we don't know what context in which the book is used in the sequel. Perhaps it's the key to STOPPING the Blair Witch, with all it's Glenda-esque witchy goodness. Ever think of that?
The point is, the entire premise of "Blair Witch" not only has nothing to do with actual witchcraft, it directly exploits every fear & stereotype & nonsensical mumbo-jumbo that the word "witch" brings up in the collective mind. ANY mix of supernaturalism (particularly if it relates to harming other beings, which completely contradicts the central ethical Wiccan philosophy) with real Craft concepts just ain't going to fly, in my book.
: But you all DO have warts, don't you? I believe that's a documented fact.
Nah. I do have an interesting birthmark, though.
: The Blair Witch Project never even addressed the topic of witchcraft.
The original didn't, which is why it didn't bother me.
: The Blair Witch may have been a witch in her natural life, but in the actual film, she's just a big intangible spook up to no good.
Why not call it the Blair Ghost, then?
: Unless you were referring to the sequel, which, from what I understand, does incorporate modern witchcraft lore into the storyline, but you don't yet know what occurs in this film, so to chastise it for inaccuracy at such an early point is unfair.
I know enough. The title is enough to piss me off. But don't worry, I'm going to see the movie. THEN, I'll really rip the muthafuckas a new fundamental orifice. This is just me working up the friction.
