Oh enlightened minister,
Not to champion Ben Affleck, but i believe you and your friend Skidmarks
missed the point of Mr. Goldman's essay. To quote Good Will Hunting, (a film with no significance to you, as I'm sure you better spend your time watching more educated fare, David Spade's magnus opus Lost and Found perhaps...) "I was being ironical."
Skidmarks and your collective, uninformed contempt for the lads is intensified by what I imagine to be failed attempts at banging out that all elusive Facts of Life reunion script, but I digress. Goldman has stated on many occasions the irony of said chapter in his book, and from reading it myself, the ironical nature is blazingly apparent. Now assuming that you're Clevland Live column isn't highbrow enough to attempt any use of such brash literary tools, I think upon further research, maybe even...GASP...watching the ACTUAL movie...you're barbaric desire to consume party beverages out of a man's cranium may be assuaged.
Give my congrats to Skidmore, for making use of such a searing remark as
"How do you like them potatoes..." Or maybe you truly are the modern
equivalent of James Joyce, Lewis Grizzard and Gary Larson rolled into one
bundle of joy, and the jokes on me. Either way, I like my potatoes mashed
with butter.
