I watched Good Will Hunting the other day and I noticed that basically every fucking song from that movie (aside of Sky Rockets in Flight, which is simply the best song EVER), was written by brit music auteur Elliot Smith. One of his songs was nominated for an Oscar. I'm A Whiner or something....
Anyway, with Chasing AMy, an all around superior movie (though the lack of Robin Williams too in Amy is suspect), we have what great songs? I Can't Do Nuttin For You MAn, but Public Enemy. I think I heard some Beastie Boys in the background of the CD scene. And Alive.... With one of the annoyingest voices in cinema short of Fran Drescher*.
Anyway, I've been thinking of what makes these movies great sometimes are soundtracks. ANd no offense or nuttin but... They play like one of your mix tapes for your car. COuld this be the answer? Simply better song selection? Is a lack of Elliot Smith and Aimee Mann really whats detering those Oscar nods?
Or am I jumping the gun totally, since a Smith song DID appear in a Ben Stiller** movie, who as we all know, is Satan, according to Kev.... A Jew? Satan? Kevin I never!
Or am i just bored and ranting for no real reason, and hoping yah read this so I can ask again what you thought of the end to Preacher without typing repost.
Only Toads knows for sure.

* Okay, her (Joeys) voice doesn't bother me all that much, but the general consensus, and blah blah blah.
** I really liked said Ben Stiller movie, Keeping the Faith. Thus far one of my faves of 2000.
