Dr Funk,

I've had a bit of a look into this (as well as consulting a friend who works at a film company), and at the risk of repeating myself (wholly unintentionally), I have a few pointers.

Unless you know someone working on the film, it's always going to be tricky getting stuff heard. When you're sending your tune in, you need a name to send it to. I've had a quick look at my copy of the Mallrats soundtrack, and there are Soundtrack Producers, Executive Soundtrack Producers and Music Consultants on there. I've no idea who the first and last ones are going to be on the new film, but it would be a fairly safe guess that Kevin and Scott will be Executive Soundtrack Producers. I imagine they both get a load of post, but it would probably be best to send it to one of them. If you mark the package "Music Enclosed", they'll be able to see that it's not just normal post (unless they receive packages like that all the time!).

If you can think of another name at View Askew Productions, try one of them. I don't know if Brian would have any input, but as he's Kevin's friend, he might mention your song to Kevin if he hears and likes it.

Put your music on to CD if possible - that makes it easily accessible, and will also allow them to play it in their computers if they don't have a stereo handy.

And as before, keep your letter simple, put your contact details on everything and wait to hear. And the best of luck to you - hope it goes well!
