Eion Bailey was in more than one scene. At least two, maybe three. Honestly, he didn't have enough screen time to really critique his performance, but here it is the next day and I do remember his face, which is more than I can say about other bit players in the film. The film was fantastic.
If I wanted to be nitpicky (and I gues I do) my only problem with the casting of Eion Bailey was that I though Jann Wenner was fat back in the early 70s. I could be wrong. I seem to remember him being fat somewhere in the 70s or 80s and then reading something about his hugely successful weight loss. I realize it is a fictionalized account of actual events, so it didn't really bother me, it just popped into my head as I was watching and quickly disappeared. I thought Bailey was a fine choice for the role.
BTW, the real Jann Wenner appears as the passenger in a cab that William Miller looks into when he's looking for Penny Lane.
Jason Lee is such a rock star. The dude looked so natural up there. I could nitpick about how different his real voice sounded when he was singing Elton John tunes on the bus and "On the Cover of the Rolling Stone" in the club compared to the voice they dubbed in as the singer of the band, but again, that's nitpicky and Cameron Crowe's fault, not Jason Lee's. The role of Jeff Bebe still didn't afford Lee the opportunity to really really shine. That's not a critique of Lee's acting, which was excellent, it's a comment meaning I want to see him in a LEAD ROLE. I mean I want to see a movie in which he has more screen time than anyone. He's always the best thing about any movie he's in.
: He played the editor of Rolling Stone and I believe has one scene at the very end. He was also the lead in my film, A BETTER PLACE (also with Jason Lee). I've been dying to see how well he fairs in ALMOST FAMOUS.
