It's true.
I live in Toronto and was disappointed that I couldn't get tickets to the
premiere at the T.O. festival, but then I found out about a special preview
screening the following night. So I went.
IT"S AWESOME!!! I tell you no lies, it has quickly become one of my
favourite all-time movies. I just loved it. Patrick Fugit, the newcomer
who plays William, is one of my new heros. Frances McDormand was fantastic
as his protective mother. Kate Hudson was a revelation in the movie, I had
no idea she had as much talent as she does, and was amazed at how her dialogue was really inconsequential because of how much she could get across
with just her facial expressions. Billy Crudup was great, especially in the
scene where he's tripped out on acid as well as when he's talking to William's mother. And Jason Lee...Ah, Lee. If anyone doubted that Lee
could, in fact, act before this movie, then they should now put all doubts
aside. First of all, he really did look like he'd been ripped out of the 1970's, maybe moreso than the rest of them. He gave us the same Lee charm
we've all come to love from Kevin's movies, but he fit in perfectly into a
cast full of great performances. Lee, if you read this, you are a golden
god, my friend. And if that was really you singing, give us more of it, you
were great.
Guys, really, if you don't all go see this movie, you will be doing a great
injustice to yourself and the movie going community. On the surface it is lovable, funny, and a dead-on period piece, but underneath, it's a smart,
sometimes sad, but overall inspiring work. Truely, an amazing film. It opens, by the way, in select cities, on the 15th, so if you're in one of the lucky selected few, go then. If not, you'll have to wait, but don't cheat yourself out of finding something that good. I'm telling you, you will feel
fantastic when you're leaving the theater.

the lucky one,
Brettio
