I had never watched fullscreen presentation on Dogma DVD because I m always using an anamorphic widescreen TV. But yesterday I was inspired and I tried the other side(named ironically 'bonus side') which contains full screen presentation. I think Dogma was shot in super-35, thus fullscreen telecine is quite friendly with filmmaker's original vision (contrary to common pan-and-scan). Mains drawbacks are cropped area on the side(but not much)and loss of widescreen impact. Benefit is a larger pic area on bottom of the screen. Just take a look at Serendipity 's strip...

(Oui, je dois me taper des queues plus que quiconque sur Terre ! Apres Jay bien sur... ;-) )
