I'd pick up a DVD, and ask him his thoughts on the selected film. Movies like music are a universal language!!
: :: I would have probably went up (Actually I would have sidled...and no I wouldn't be carrying Tic-Tacs in my pocket. It would definately have to be a smooth sidle) to "The Man" IF he was checking something out in the store (DVD's or whatever)...Nonchalantly, so as not to draw attention to to "The Man" and just said something like- "Hey Man, I'm "Fletch" from the VA Board and your way fucking cool, I just wanted you to know that I know this no matter what you may think" and then just bail out or go on about my business.
: :: Maybe you will be fortunate enough to have him answer this post and get better insight as to how to act...But you got what I would have done anyway...
: :: "Fletch"
: : I was at Ceaser's Palace in Vegas last week, when my chance encounter with "The Man" occured. I was at the Virgin Megastore in the Fourm Shops looking at DVD's, when a guy walked past me. I glanced at him, and thought "that guy could be a double for Kevin Smith", and went on with my buisness. The more I thought about it, the more I thought it could really be KS. It was then, that I was faced with the dilemma that some of you on this board have faced. Do you bother Kevin, or do you respect his privacy. I choose the latter, and have regretted since. I went out to the fish tank that is in front of the store and waited for KS to leave. He came out after a while with his wife, and I went back in and asked the teller if I was right and they confirmed it. I left the store, and KS was still outside the store, but I walked by without saying anything again, and left.
: : I regret this because it will be the only time in my life to tell him in person how much the gift of laughter that he has given to us, meant to me. I'm proud of myself for not being your typical "Fan Boy" and pestering him, but still wish I had as well. Did I do the right thing or not?
