Genrerally when you are asking for a favor from someone, it is better not you insult them, especially when it is such as generous person as Kevin Smith, who is kind enough to hold such an affair as Vulgarthon. And you did not miss Vulgarthon last year, since there was no Vulgarthon last year.
As for the credit card issue, how else are they supposed to quickly and efficiently sell tickets? They certainly can not take personal checks, I for one would not trust a check from the likes of the hooligans on this board. Especially that Lynch gentleman. He seems to be quite the deceitful fellow.
