How big an influence has William Goldman been on your career? I know Kevin riffed off of Butch & Sundance in Mallrats, for one. What's your opinion of him as a screenwriter and as a writer about Hollywood?
Personally, I think he's a great writer, one of the best we have, and he really seems to understand Hollywood as a business and as a society.
(And no, he never claimed he wrote Dead Poet's Society. In fact, he's said several times that the most he had to go with it was a day of work with Ben and Matt -- "and thank God I didn't damage their talent," as one article put it.)
