Remember the Titans? Maybe not.

Just got back from "Remember the Titans." First of all, and to legitimize this post as relevant to the View Askew community, Ethan was great, as always. He has this huge (no pun intended) screen presence. But, alas, he does not have as much screen time as he deserves (just like Jason). The rest of the acting is excellent, as I would expect from Denzel. Patton holds his end as well.

The movie itself? It reminded me of Willam desperately looking for the sailboat. "Titans" looks and trys, but never succeeds. It wants to, very badly, but the heart of the film never comes across.

This could have been an excellent film. The story was excellent, there was some very well written stuff. But somewhere along the way, the vision was lost. Whatever was supposed to gel this film together was missing. I don't know if it was the direction or maybe even in the editing process, something, somewhere, went wrong. And the score was starting to piss me off. It did that huge musical flare at an important moment that is supposed to tell you how to feel, but just ends up irking me.

It was an entertaining not quite two hours, just don't expect to be moved. As for me, I'll be going to see "Almost Famous" again (for the fourth time! I LOVE YOU JASON!!!).

By the way, Kevin: Will Ethan be appearing in VAV, or is that, like the title, classified information?

Scott.
