: : All the Scientologists I've ever met have been really nice, in fact beyond nice. ::
: Beyond nice?
Yep they are all really nice, more nice then perhaps is normal.
: Also they don't cram their ideas down peoples throats, their really laid back about it. Now that's just the ones I've either met or seen in the media. I will say that Scientology changed the life of an aquaintance of mine for the better. :::
: Groovy.
: Your analogy is a little off also, the members of a church would not really be likened to the cover of a book, they would be the characters portrayed in the book, the cover most likely would be the church building. :::
: Ever hear the cliche' "You can't judge a book by its cover."? Thats what I was making reference to.
My point was that the cliche isn't relevant since judging a church by it's members is not in any way similar to judging a book by its cover. In using that cliche you implied and analogy...members of a church :: the church as a whole = cover of a book :: the whole book, it's not a valid ananlogy.
: :
: : : :: Not to mention the fact that people should learn the facts about something before they start bashing it.::
: : : Its never stopped people from bashing Catholicism,Judaism or Islam.
: : It ought to have. My statement still stands.::
: I agreed.
: :
: : Now Mormons, I've done papers on them and they are wacky, and I lived near them to, so I have legitimate gripes against them.
: : I am mormon so I have some legitimate gripes with them as well. ::
: Whats with the constant conversion thing? Everytime I'd play street hockey near there, some old bag would ask us if we wanted cookies and then we'd go in and eat cookies while she tried to convert us. We'd end up all going to the bathroom and snatching the cookies on the way out.
: : I'm still not sure if you were agreeing with me or knocking me in your post.:::
: I was agreeing. If I was knocking you, you'd know it. I tend to be over the top when I knock people.
: Since I never said any of those things about Catholiicism, Judiaism, or Islam I assume that you were agreeing with me that people ought to learn everything they can before bashing [note: even if you are well versed on something it's probably better not to say negative things about it becuase that just hurts the people involved in it],:::
: When people ask ye to speak your mind, you got to. Does'nt mean you have to go around firing salvos at everything you dislike. Then you become Dr.Laura.
: but If you were agreeing with me then I have no idea where all of that came from.:::
: I was making a comparison. I was saying how Scientology has gotten off relatively easy in terms of smack thrown their way in comparison to the Big 3.
: ::It was in no way my intention to start off a debate, I was just saying that...nevermind...I think maybe you have some religious issues and I'm sorry I brought them to the surface.::
: I think you need to take a reading understanding and comprehension course.
I said that I thought it was bogus for people to bash Scientology. Now I see your point that Scientology has had it relatively light in the bashing arena, but your whole tirade there made it seem like it really touched a nerve with you, i.e. you have personal issues about it but maybe I'm the only one who got that.
P.S. Scientology may have had less bashing than some other religions, but that is only relative to sheer volume of shit trown it's way verses other religions. It's only been around for less than 50 years and realative to the amount of shit thrown the way of each of those religions in their first 50 years of existence the Scientology might have had way more. Just an example of how you can skew things like that to mean anything you want them to depending on the point of reference.
