: : And I hope you don't blame video games and movies for those assholes.
: No, I think it is retarded to blame movies, music or games for these type of things but I just did not think that Columbine was something that should be joked about.
Why?
Why does this continue to capture the public imagination so well? Why do people who are otherwise intelligent people consider the actual shooting to be somehow shocking and/or deviant from the normal events? Why are people who can ordinarily handle good, healthy gallows humor treat this one, reasonably minor event, as sacrosanct?
I say fuck that!
The only reason this mean *shit* to people is that they got tv cameras in there. Similar events happen fairly regularly and people pass right by them and joke healthily about them even. Similar numbers of people die and people joke and move on. It's a healthy part of the healing process.
But no! 12 (that's right, isn't it?) fucking people die and you'd think it was the goddamn Holocaust for all the artificial gravity people try to lend it.
The sick (and sickly funny sometimes) part of the whole thing is that we all know about it and it's held up as this major event in the public conciousness, because we're all mind-slaves of the media elite who decided to tell us that this event was grave, important and meaningful. It was none of those things.
